Kindermissionswerk of Germany has donated to Gavar Special School money to purchase a new Russian made minibus. This minibus is very important to Gavar Special School as it is the only special needs school in the Gegharkunik Region of Armenia and it must bring children from far way towns such as Vardenis (110 kilometers away) and Chambarak (95 kilometers away). Gegharkunik is the largest region of Armenia and there is no public transportation to the school from the various towns and villages especially on the border.
The van will allow Gavar Special School to reach its goal of having 125 or more special needs children studying in the school. The population of children with special needs in the Gegharkunik Region tops 650 children of which less than 20% receive any type of formal education. Most never leave their family home and are resigned to a life of dependence.
Gavar Special School sincerely thanks Kindermissionwerks for its very kind donation which will have tremendous impact helping Gavar Special School ensure every child receives the necessary education to be independent and as self-sufficient as possible.
